Dai is one of the UK’s foremost orthodontists with a wealth of clinical experience. He graduated in dentistry from Kings College, London in 1978 and worked for several years in general dental practice. After a three year postgraduate training post at Guy’s Hospital London he obtained his specialist qualifications in orthodontics, obtaining a Diploma in Orthodontics and a Masters Degree in 1988 followed by a Membership in Orthodontics in 1989. He was also awarded Dental Fellowships from the Royal Colleges of Glasgow, Edinburgh and England.
In 1993 he was appointed Consultant Orthodontist at the Leeds Dental Institute and Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Leeds. In 1994 he became Head of the Department of Orthodontics and in 2001 Clinical Director for the Northern and Yorkshire Cleft Lip and Palate Service. In 2002 he was elected President of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
Dai is a reviewer for the European Journal of Orthodontics, the British Journal of Orthodontics, the Angle Orthodontist, the British Dental Journal and the Australian Journal of Orthodontics. He has been the postgraduate Dental Tutor for North Yorkshire, responsible for organising the postgraduate education, research and audit carried out by dentists. He is a founder member of the Institute of Expert Witnesses and is regularly called upon for his opinion in medico-legal cases.
He has published widley in professional journals and has lectured extensively. He has been a keynote speaker at National and International orthodontic meetings including the Far East, New Zealand and Australia. He is author of the textbook “A Clinical Guide to Orthodontics” published by the British Dental Journal.
Dai specialises in cosmetic braces including clear braces, lingual orthodontics and Invisalign aligners (he has been awarded Platinum Proivider status because of the large number of these cases he treats) as well as traditional metal braces. He now works exclusively at the Roberts-Harrry Clinic, Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
