Periodontist

A Peridontist is a specialist dentist who treats the structures that support the teeth, i.e. gums and surrounding bone, when they are affected by gum disease (gingivitis and periodontal disease) or require cosmetic enhancement.  More teeth are lost through periodontal disease than tooth decay in the thirty plus age group and most of the population suffer at some time from the problem.  The good news is that with early detection it is almost totally preventable. Even in advanced cases expert treatment can help eliminate the disease and save the teeth.
